Vadim Leonidovich Oktyuchev

Born in Usolye-Sibirskoye at 8 October 1912.

His father is Leonid Makarovich Oktyuchev. His mother is Yana Pavlovna Mazdakina. His older brother is Eduard Leonidovich Oktyuchev (1901-1919). His younger brother is Mark Leonidovich Oktyuchev (1913). And his youngest sister is Zinaida Leonidovna Oktyucheva (1914).

Vadim was born from large noble family, who used to have plumbing factory for decades. However, the family is dysfunctional: they have harmful tradition that odd-numbered child should be a boy, and even-numbered child should be a girl. Any child born without that rules that should be dumped, otherwise the plumbing business will destroyed. And unfortunately... Vadim is the second child.

But his mother Yana and Eduard protect Vadim from the extended family's wrath. Vadim's father Leonid is conflicted because he has same trauma to see his young sister dumped to orphanage (as the young sister is the third child). But also he wants to make sure the family business stay strong. at the end, he choose to keep Vadim alive but neglect him.

And too bad just as Zinaida born around 1914, the plumbing factory went bankrupt. The extended family thought it's because of Vadim and Mark's existence. Despite the reality is because of civilian movement start to infiltrate and causing many unrest... so Vadim's father, mother, and the 4 children exiled to some cheap abandoned dacha used to owned by Oktyuchev family.

Yet at the same time this also saves Vadim's family. In 1917, the extended family was executed by Bolsheviks. But Vadim's family living in fear as their name are in wanted list, and Eduard who decided to join White Army instead leading him to went missing forever. The father start to abusive by locking Vadim and Mark whenever he had bad mood. The accuse "If you two weren't exist, the factory never closed and my beloved son stay alive".

The mother and Zinaida can only help supporting through comfort and words... until Vadim and Mark decided to run away from home. They separated ways: Mark went to Leningrad and work as repairman, while Vadim went to Moscow and trying his luck to moonlight with a balalaika he stole from dacha. Yeah, the same balalaika that Eduard had because he wants to be musician and actor... but never played ever since the dream shattered after 1917. Both Vadim and Mark promising to never sought each other, and never came back home to forgive the father.

Because of his diligent practice and perform well in some places, Vadim managed to get offer: to join the Soviet radio station and play balalaika together with a group. He has decent income and people sees him as normal talented musician... which made Vadim felt relieved his surname is not part of the wanted list anymore.

However... he still had audio hallucination to hear his father abusing him faintly. He usually try to brush off and thinking about her mother and Zinaida. then he often drown himself by chatting with people, playing balalaika nonstop until he is tired. Even if he hearing faint voices that can be ignored, but he always hear it from start waking up until going to sleep.

Then 1934, he join Alexandrov Ensemble after the radio station had collab with Alexandrov Ensemble since 1933. The ensemble open audition for both balalaika and domra section, and Vadim can easily enter thanks to this record. Though later at 1935, he is ordered by Alexander Vasilyevich Alexandrov to move to domra section. Vadim doesn't mind, as it's still similar... and he decided to try moving on from his past.

And so, he also can drowning those voices by entering more challenges in the ensemble...
