Cat Burial

[1949]

It's been a long day for Fyodor, despite it's a summer holiday and no concert held for the rest of 3 weeks. He spend much time to renovate his communal, making sure his 7 cats are safe enough with surroundings and not messing with neighbor's communal. He always successfully trained all of his cats to poop at toilet, so he only need to flush and not worrying about smelly and dirty surroundings. Pretty much a divine skill, as Fyodor thought to himself.

He rested his old body to the sofa. Looking around his communal room in silence, savoring it delightfully. He never stopped being grateful that his old hags are killed. He also relieved to see his both parents peacefully died in old age, then his brothers married and had their own happy life. While for himself... able to sit down and pet all of cats without fuss is already fulfilling for him. He already content too, to be a fun uncle who introduced his nephews and nieces to his cats.

Then Fyodor get up abruptly, for he just remember to check on the oldest cat among them. He sees that fat calico cat had changed its sleeping position, from the last time Fyodor sees it 4 hours ago. Although the position was... very unusual.

"Motya?" called Fyodor while patting the cat. But she doesn't answered. Her body has gone cold on his palm.
Yet Fyodor kept petting her for a while. To remembering the cat literally survived from the war. To remembering Motya has naturally died as 11-years old cat, so it's okay that she rest forever...

... to remembered the simple past when everyone still alive, taking turns to pet this fat cat at rehearsal....
...to remember that Motya will reunite with her original owner...

Lastly, he was glad to meet Motya again. To remember the past for the last time; after attending Alexander Vasilyevich's funeral in July 1946, he walked to CSKA building, reminisce for a while and reducing his sadness. In that moment, he witness a very scrawny white cat with black-orange spots. There is no other cat who has that specific pattern. Except...

"...Motya?" the call from Fyodor made that cat meowed and hop to Fyodor. "Oh God... you are so awful! Olya will be so sad...! Did his fiancée ever feed you? Don't worry, I will... I will bring you home."

Fyodor keep muttering and soothing the cat as he took the metro and reach his home. The cat was bathed and given the fish slowly. And in just 4 months, the scrawny cat has coming back to her fat shape.

...
...

By two hours later, Fyodor finally ready to dig a hole at communal's park, burying Motya there respectfully.
